Saw this quote and had to preach about it for a second.  Check this out.  First of all, not only is Bobby Orr one of, if not the greatest hockey player of all time.  Ya I know, obviously there’s the Gretzky argument but if you’ve ever seen him play you’d know where I’m coming from.  Go check out the movie “The Best of Bobby Orr” a VHS I watched 300 times as a kid.  You’ll notice not only that he revolutionized the game, but more importantly he was the most humble athlete of all time.  We would have a drastically different sports scene today if all professional athletes acted like Mr. Orr.  Anyways, the reason I love this quote is because in sports today there’s way too many kids pull off stuff they can’t do rather than just making the right play.  I stress to kids at camps that it doesn’t matter how the ball goes in the net as long as it does.  Every goal counts the same, just throw it in the net.  Don’t get me wrong I love a good BTB as much as the next guy, but only when it’s necessary. Watch this…  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGJIbIIjtPA&feature=related -88

I’m not sure the exact source of this quote, but it was the slogan for a team that called me up a couple years to play, back in my minor lacrosse days in Whitby.  I couldn’t have been more than 12 or 13, but these guys took this to heart and were willing to truly sacrifice for their pride.  Since then, that team has lost two members, two unbelievable athletes in unexpected situations.  I keep this with me everyday as it has taught me to suck it up!  P.I.T. P.I.F.
